Using Alpine Linux for GParted boot usb

Submitted by ncopa on

Why would you want use Alpine for partitioning your disk when there are nice and small specialized distros like gparted livecd?

First of all, I don't want carry around a bunch of specialized iso images for each job, specially not nowdays when computers does not even have a CDROM player. Recreating your bootable USB each time is no fun. And the general livecd's (like fedora, ubuntu) takes long time to boot.

So a generic bootable Alpine USB with fast bootup and running fast from RAM only is nice.

Once upon a time there was a blog

So we have ourselves a shiny new website and in the end I find my self blogging about it. To be honest I have never blogged in my life before and I (and probably you) have never missed it, but It seems all good things come to an end sooner or later so lets fire-up the keyboard.

By adding a blog to our website, we want to give our developers/contributors a way to speak out to our users. Previously Alpine Linux information flow was primarily via our mailing lists and IRC channel and we know that not everybody feels comfortable enough to use these services.
